Stuart and Rusty's Rottnest swim and paddle challenge for Melanoma awareness
Story
I am aiming to raise money to support Melanoma Institute Australia, an organisation dedicated to preventing and curing melanoma through innovative, world-class research, treatment and education programs.
I have been a survivor of Melanoma now for 10 years, and can confidently say that I may not have made this significant anniversary without the great medical help from the doctors and nurses that have treated me in that time. As a mark of celebration and to show what survivors of this disease can still do after receiving treatment for this disease, a good friend of mine and I will be participating in this years Rottnest Island channel swim.
My part will be to support my good friend Stuart Braine, in doing his solo swim of 20km's from Cottisloe Beach Perth to Rottnest Island, by paddling a kayak beside him for the full 20km's.
I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
11.2.2013: due to the overwhelming support and communication of new sponsors still keen to donate, we have decided to raise the target to $5000. To those who have already donated, the support and comments have been fantastic and with just under 2 weeks to go, Stu and I are real keen to give it a good shake up. To new sponsors coming on board, we welcome all donations big or small, but let your immediate friends know so we can get them on board too.
